About Me

Meet the Bug

20130407-132745.jpgHi, it’s so nice to meet you!  My name is Serena (a.k.a. Bewildered Bug) and I’m a 30-something PR-friendly, gluten-free, dairy-free, “smug-married”, self-proclaimed people-watching allergy-queen, just trying to navigate through life. This blog is my attempt at relaying my everyday experiences. I blog about my crazy life, my desires, needs and upsets, mental health issues, living with food allergies, events and product reviews and giveaways and focus on the Canadian, British and Caribbean experiences.

I grew up in the little island of Trinidad (in the Caribbean) and then moved the huge metropolis that is Toronto for 15 1/2 years. After living in the unique situation where my husband lived across the Atlantic in the UK and while I stayed in Toronto for a year, we decided that a long distance marriage was not for us. So, as of January 2013 I have been living in the small town of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

It is challenging learning to adjust to small town living in a completely different country, but I am enjoying it (most of the time) and learning so much! I am currently trying to organise my apartment, add Caribbean and British components to my blog, keep up with my Canadian component on the blog, start a cake business, find a job IRL, try to conceive and stay sane…all at the same time – but there is hope because the Luv Luv and I have each other’s backs and the world is my oyster…

I am also an avid shopper and consumer who grew up in a houseful of girls. That means I can say that I am an excellent reviewer of products without blinking an eye.

I enjoy doing product reviews and giveaways because of the joy it brings to the winners and because I get introduced to so many new and different products for all aspects of my life through them! I only review products that are pertinent to my life – so that means, at the moment, no kiddie stuff and no crazy party stuff.  I’m an official in-betweener (not yet a Mommy, yet not a party girl) – so foods that I can actually eat (without curling up onto a bed in pain or breaking out or without compromising my breathing), household items, events, cool gadgets, entertainment etc. etc. There really are endless possibilities – just because I don’t have kids and just because I’m not an avid party-er does not mean I don’t have an amazing life full of adventures and experiences.

If you are looking for a product review or if you aren’t sure if you are suitable for this blog, please see my disclaimer page and email me at the PR only email below.

I also accept non-commercial guest blogs on relevant topics (subject to pre-approval and editing by me) – you just have to pitch me (please email me at my NON-PR email for this) so that I can ensure that it is suitable content for my blog. I especially would love to hear your first hand mental health stories if you are willing to tell it, so that I can keep my “Mental Health Mondays” guest posts going. The whole purpose of Mental Health Mondays is to help dispel stigma about mental health issues and to educate the general public on what it is like to live with mental health issues. These guest posts are offered anonymously or will link to your personal social media sites.

I am always looking for new directions, ideas, experiences and opinions, and I don’t bite, so feel free to email me or comment on any of my blogs – even if you just want to say hello.  I hope to hear from you sometime soon!
