Yes, I am still alive – I’ve just been incredibly busy recently. I don’t usually do things last minute or in such a rush, but recently I’ve done both – and it is coming to an end soon pending a few letters and a big move….I feel like my sister – she always does things last minute – and I have to say that even though I believe in doing things early and on time, everything that I’ve been trying to get done recently has gone fairly smoothly (knock wood) and is getting done in fairly good time. Anyway, this is why I went AWOL for a bit and will be away for a little bit longer.
I Took A Whirlwind Trip To Toronto
Yes, I was there for a week – I went to get some personal business cleared up as well as to attend a friend’s wedding. While I was there I had a small blogging crisis where I had to go steal wifi from Starbucks and get my Shoppers’ Drug Mart post up. Luckily I had great blogging friends like Aeryn and Shari supporting me via phone, troubleshooting, doing graphics and emailing me important information – else it would have been a much harder task.
I also learnt to appreciate the fact that I’m hitched a bit more. No, I don’t mind going away from the Luv Luv for a week or so – I’m used to living life without him if I have to – remember we had a long distance marriage not-so-long-ago where he was in Huddersfield and I was in Toronto! What it was is that I recruited his cousin to be my date for the wedding – this meant I would not have to spend the money on renting a car to go all the way to Brampton. The day of the first event, I get a call saying he “does not want to go anymore” and “at least I’m telling you the truth” and “I don’t want to drive in traffic”. That was at 3 pm when he was supposed to be picking me up at 6:30pm.
Funnily enough I was with Aeryn and we both were like “whaaaa?!” and thanked our lucky stars that neither of us are singletons and have to put up with this quality of man. Is this what you single ladies have to put up with? If so I advise you to become lesbian ASAP or swear to be single for the rest of your life because I would not put up with that shit. Really? On the DAY you were supposed to pick me up? If I had known I would have rented the freaking car…..but never mind, I just took a cab there …which although not cheap – was reliable…unlike SOME people.
While I was there I also visited some of my old haunts and tried to eat everything that I miss. First on the list was Pho at the little pho place just south of Finch on Yonge. Can I say heaven? I had pho twice while I was there and their haiainese chicken once. I was sated
At least for now. I also had persian food, sushi, starbucks (numerous times because once you steal wifi it becomes addictive), lamb shank and bubble tea. I spent a day in Fairview Mall and took advantage of the Aerie “$20 for any bra in store” sale, bought the Luv Luv an incredibly sexy looking jacket and bought myself tons of makeup and some key clothing pieces….and just enjoyed strolling around the mall like I used to.
I managed to see quite a few people I wanted to see, and for those of you who I missed, you were in my thoughts and prayers (and still are), I promise! I managed to meet up with Aeryn (of course), Lisa from Fab Frugal Mama, Amber (from a specific PR firm I won’t mention here), my good childhood friend Kats and of course, so many people from my program at Ryerson at the wedding (that was like a reunion). It was especially touching when my dear Roulabug burst into tears when she saw me because no one knew I was coming to the wedding except the sister of the bride.
The bride herself also had a spectacular reaction when she saw me – I swore she was going to faint cause she was hyper-ventilating!
I felt overly-loved and for that I thank God that I’m so blessed to have so many people who love me….
After that, I went through the last suitcase that we had left there, threw out some stuff and repacked and high tailed it back to England for my wedding anniversary (23rd August). We went low key and went to dinner at a local tapas restaurant – but it was really nice and I would love to go back (hint hint). It’s been 5 years of married life already – do you believe it?!
I Went AWOL In London
The day after I headed to my Uncle’s in London to find a flat for myself. That’s right – I’m moving to the London area. This was all decided a little while before I went to Toronto (as in the week before)…..and I’m starting my Masters in Historical Building Conservation down there while the Luv Luv finishes his courses up here. That means we are living apart yet again for at least the next year. Yes….back to long distance, but not as bad as last time because this time we’re both on the same land mass and we’re only about 5 hours apart by train. Hopefully Virgin or East Coast trains (or both) are willing to give us a break on train fares so we can see each other more often?
I also managed to get a lot of sun and exercise between my nephew, Joseph (who has gotten me back onto my iPad games – and I got a new one – Despicable Me!!!) and their new doggie, Lily…..
So that’s where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to – and I’ve been living out of a suitcase for weeks now (which is frustrating). At the moment I’m home trying to pack everything I need and rearrange furniture so that the Luv Luv’s roomie will have space to live…..He moves in this coming weekend and I’ll be putting together my apartment in London as of this weekend too.
So as you can see I’ve been extremely busy organising paperwork back and forth from Canada and from Trinidad, organising moving, packing and unpacking and arranging and rearranging….so something has to give, and unfortunately, at the moment it’s this blog….I promise I’ll be back soon – and I have some spectacular reviews for you including my review of a SodaStream (if I can ever prise it out of the Luv Luv’s hands…guess that’s staying here) which is just too much fun for its own good, the Micro-pedi which is all the rage across here at the moment and an organic skincare range, which I have my fingers crossed will work marvelously.
Anyways, I hope you don’t miss me too too much – I’m still around and if you tweet, email or facebook me I am still answering (albeit intermittently) – I am hoping life settles down a bit very soon because I’m beat …and need to conserve energy for the Masters I’m about to start…oh and the upcoming Italy trip (yes more on that later).
So please don’t lose hope – do keep visiting and commenting even though there is not much going on – I do like to hear from you, especially when I’m stressed – you comfort me and I hope I do the same for you once in a while!!! Cheers and I’ll be back on asap!
