Please welcome my bloggy friend, Shannon today – giving you a little info about Brain Tumour Awareness Month 2012.
I want to share with you a ribbon you may have seen and not known what it is about. It is the grey ribbon for brain tumours. Grey — grey matter – fitting I think.
On September 13, 2009 I was one of 27 Canadians diagnosed with a brain tumour. I am now included in a group of about 55,000 Canadians that are currently living and surviving with a brain tumour.
You can read the beginning to my story at Shannon’s View from Here.
Surprisingly the Canadian medical system currently does not track statistics on primary brain tumours. Shocking since complete and accurate data is required for the research that will lead to a better understanding of this disease and improved diagnosis and treatment.
Here are some common symptoms of a brain tumour. If you or a loved one are experiencing any of these please see your family physician:
You can find more information at The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada’s website HERE.
We all know that awareness will bring change. Please like, share or tweet this post to get the information out to as many people as possible!
