First, I’d like to thank all of you who voted for me in the Lancome Luxebox Contest on Facebook. I came within the top 25 and am therefore one of the winners of a Lancome LuxeBox for myself and one to giveaway on my blog for one of you lucky readers!
As you know, I’ve been holiday-ing in Trinidad where I spent the Christmas and the New Year with my family. I had a lot of fun and was very happy to see my Lancome LuxeBox waiting for me in the mail when I got back. The Luxebox itself is gorgeous as usual – the sleek black box with the lovely Parisian style Lancome graphics on it. It did send a little thrill up my spine when I saw it – this was not just a Luxebox, this was THE special edition Lancome LuxeBox! Loose Button, you’ve done it again!
Of course, the little personalized touch was there, as it is in all LuxeBoxes. I know it seems a little ridiculous, but you do feel a little special when you see your name on the box – it’s like an awesome, girly, little monthly gift just for you. I was probably as excited to see my name on this special package as I was to play with the products!

Do you not yet know what a Luxe Box is? Oh my goodness…..okay I shall edu-ma-cate you since you’ve been renting my cave that I disappear to once in a while (thanks for leaving it so neat and tidy btw
)….A Luxebox is a nice little package of girly pleasure, courtesy of LooseButton, that arrives monthly at your door once you sign up here. No my dear, not THAT type of pleasuure (get your minds out of the gutter!) – it’s a set of small samples (and sometimes full sized samples) of the latest spectacular cosmetics available on the market. It’s really a good deal and always happens to come just when you’re being a hormonal bitch you need a good pick me up in the middle of the month. Go check it out, give it a try, I guarantee you will enjoy it.
By the way, they’re not always only one brand – if you check out my previous Luxe box post, you’ll see what I mean – this particular Luxebox was a special edition one made specifically for you in conjunction with Lancome. So, now that you’re all excited and stuff, this is what was included in the special edition Lancome Luxe Box from LooseButton….. (oh, and completely unrelated…okay not COMPLETELY, I love Emma Watson and she’s the new face of Lancome. I particularly love her in the Tresor Midnight Rose ad).
1) A sample of the Tresor Midnight Rose Perfume
Beautiful and mysterious, this sample fascinated me! The newer, sexier version of the classic Tresor rose scented perfume, this one promises exoticism, sensuality an passion. It’s a rose scented scent, with hints of raspberry and blackcurrant with a slight woodsey background. Very Parisian, this scent is very much a date night scent when you want just a little extra *oomph* for that special person in your life!
2) A sample of Aquatique Waterproof Eyecolour Base
I’ve only recently discovered the benefits of eye colour bases and primers even though I knew about them for decades – as I’m getting older and want more sophisticated make up looks, I’ve decided to pay a little more attention to how I apply my makeup, how I style my hair and yes, even what I dress. This Waterproof Eyecolour Base is spectacular – it’s long lasting and allows you to put together some vibrant, modern eye makeup looks with no chance of creasing. It is comfortable to use and leaves a neutral, matte finish on the lid, perfect for application of your favourite eye shadows.
3) A sample of the CILS Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base
Of course, if you’re using an eyeshadow base, you should use a mascara base too right? I have to admit I did not believe in mascara bases until I got a few free samples of various ones. They are spectacular. Your lashes just get amplified but not clumpy – a definite sexy and alluring look – lush, long, full, clump-less lashes. What more can you ask for? This particular base goes on easily and smoothly and even conditions your lashes with a special Vitamin E formula. Definite must have.
4) A sample of Genefique Youth Activating Concentrate
Another recent discovery (hey, I’m a latecomer on the bandwagon okay?!?! give me a break!) are serums for your skin. I never think of myself as old, but everytime I happen to speak with another beauty advisor, be it a blogger, a friend or an aesthetician at a spa….I’m told that I should have been using anti-aging products since I was 25 years old. I’m almost a decade late. And I still don’t. Okay stop yelling at me. Anyway – Lancome has come out with Genifique Youth Activating Conecntrate – an amazing skin serum that promises to give you visibly younger skin in just 7 days! It promises “cushiony soft, astonishingly even, dramatically refined” skin – I haven’t actually used it yet due to my fear of allergies etc…but I know everything else in this box is amazing, I am sure this would be spectacular!
